Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He tests and evaluates cleaning appliances. His main focus is mopping and robot vacuum combinations. Multitaskers are an excellent choice for those who want to get rid of mopping off their list of tasks. Some models have superior navigation and obstacle avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you should select if you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It's smaller than the other models on this list, which makes it easier to maneuver into tight corners and underneath furniture. It features a 220 degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best navigation and object avoidance that I've ever seen in a robot vacuum. It packs a powerful 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it is able to run longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery mid-clean.
It's very efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways with only one motion. Its 8,000pa suction motor will quickly pick up sand, dirt, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects carpets and the dual side brushes help to clean debris from corners.
The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as impressive. The mop's rotating motor spins at a high rate and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a little more than other robots. This is useful when you're trying to get into tight corners or along baseboards. The front arms can be used to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys or books.
Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever used. It is quieter and doesn't create as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it must use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It's easy to install and works well however, this is something that you'll have to keep an eye on in case you're purchasing this vacuum solely for the reason of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners looking to purchase a highly effective, versatile, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map the home and identify furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean efficiently and intelligently. This will ensure an even and thorough clean and is also quick.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad is capable of reaching many surfaces. These include corners and baseboards as well as other hard-to-reach spots. The side brush can be stretched out to extend to the floor, close to the walls or other fixtures. In addition, the mop pads can be washed and dried to prevent build-up and reduce the smell.
Another feature worth mentioning is the customizable options available via apps. The Q Revo allows you to alter the strength of suction and select between a back-andforth or more random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes, which will determine how quickly it can move around your home. You can also choose to disable the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.
The device comes with a expensive price, but has a variety of advanced features. It is important to keep in mind, however, that the device incurs regular expenses, such as mopping supplies and regular maintenance. For example the brushroll needs to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to twelve months. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hrs, and the mop pads must be changed every three months.
This robotic vacuum cleaner has an excellent Amazon rating and comes with many physical automation features. This includes an energy button that serves as a general "Clean button as well as a Home' button that will send it back to its base station after completing the cleaning process. It also has a multi-functional dock that automatically empties the dustbin, refills its water tank to mop and washes and dries its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or someone who wants a cleaner home without spending much time doing chores The Shark Matrix Plus is a good option. Its powerful performance, intelligent navigation and long battery life make it simple to maintain a clean home with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot cleaner vacuum and mop that is, it can do both vacuuming and mopping. The robot has two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping system with microfiber pads that snap in and out of place. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping however it does mean that you don't have to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature was its accurate floorplan which it uses to create a route when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate easily through rugs, furniture and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' as well as virtual barriers that prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mopping.
We also found that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up hair of pets. It was able to collect the majority of hair shed by our cats and even was able to get into the nooks and crannies of our stairs while other robots struggled. It was quiet and even had some pleasant jingles that signalled when it was beginning or completing its task.
Its main drawbacks were its simplistic app and the necessity to swap out the modules when switching between vacuuming and mopping. The app cannot keep multiple maps. This could be an issue if your house has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want a smart robot that is capable of vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robotic vacuum that is able to mop in our review, but it has some distinct features that are worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its enormous dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses a 2.5-liter dustbin and an 2.5 liter dust bin.
The base also has a number of control buttons that let you manually start a cleaning job or recall the robot or use the dock's automatic vacuum cleaner and mop emptying process. Hold down two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally become so entangled with an obstruction, such as the power cord that is draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you manually free it. This was a rare occurrence however, it was a bit frustrating because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert in its application.
Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between vacuuming and mopping modes during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad, except that mopping pads don't get washed or dried between uses. This can lead to mildew and mold.
On the bright side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot vacuum reviews, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a big contrast to the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing appearance in a market that is dominated by clunky boxy models.
