Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He evaluates and tests cleaning equipment, focusing on robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuums and mopping combos. Multitaskers are a great option for those who wish to take mopping off their to-do list. They have impressive mapping capabilities and obstacles-avoiding capabilities, and some wash and refill their own mopping pads for a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you need to select if you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It is smaller than other options, making it easier to maneuver into tight corners or under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it one of my top navigation and object avoidance capabilities I've seen in a robotic vacuum. It's got a battery of 4600mAh which can last up to 170 minutes when mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can be more efficient when using turbo). It can even return to the dock to top up its battery part way through an efficient.
It's efficient and does an outstanding job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted areas extremely quickly, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallways, and living room in one go. Its 8,000pa suction motor is quick at picking up dirt, crumbs, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help draw out debris from corners.
The mopping efficiency is less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop rotates at a high rate and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, easily cleaning up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which is useful to maneuver around tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can also be employed to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and fallen books.
Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot hoover vacuums and mops I've tried. It is quieter and doesn't create as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It is easy to set up, and it works well. However should you purchase this robot vacuum solely for mopping purposes it is important to pay attention to this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It comes with a wide array of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners who want an extremely efficient, flexible and ad-hoc cleaning machine.
The device has an impressive and powerful cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the home and identify furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean efficiently and effectively. This leads to an effective, consistent cleaning which is also relatively fast.
In terms of mopping, the Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can be used to reach a wide range of surfaces. This includes corners, baseboards and other difficult to reach spots. The side brush can be stretched out to extend to the floor, close to the walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and dry to reduce odors and prevent buildup.
App-based customization is yet another noteworthy feature. The Q Revo lets you adjust the suction strength and select a back-and forth or slightly random pattern. You can also set the number of passes it should make, which will affect the speed at which the device can traverse your home. You can even choose to turn off the side brush to prevent damaging carpets and rugs.
This device is expensive however it has many useful features. It's crucial to note that it incurs periodic costs in the form of mopping supplies and maintenance. For example the brushroll needs to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to 12 months. The filter must be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pad must be replaced every three to six months.
The robot vacuum mop has a high Amazon rating and comes with an array of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an energy button that doubles as a 'Clean button' and a 'Home button to send it home after cleaning. It also comes with a multifunctional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and drys its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be the ideal choice for busy professionals or anyone who needs to keep their home clean without spending too much time doing chores. Its powerful performance, smart navigation, and long battery life allow you to maintain a clean home with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is an all-in-one mop and vacuum. It can do both mopping and vacuuming. The robot is divided into two components which include a dry bin and water tank that can be snapped in and out and a mopping unit that is equipped with an elastomer pad. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping but it does mean you don't have to fret about changing out disposable bags or refilling the tank with water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature was its accurate map of your floorplan which it uses to draw an outline for cleaning. This made it easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture carpets, rugs, and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers to stop certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.
We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in removing hair from pets. It was able to collect a lot of the hair that our cats shed, and even made it into the nooks and crannies of our stairs, where other robots have struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low and there were lovely jingles that signal that it was in the process of getting its work done.
The biggest flaws were its simple app and the requirement to switch out the modules whenever switching between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't keep multiple maps. This could be an issue if your house has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want a smart robot that is capable of vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our test, but it also has distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is notable for its huge dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks that are 4 liters in size. It also houses the 2.5-liter dustbin and the 2.5 liter dust bin.
The base has a couple of buttons for control, which allow you to manually begin a cleaning task, recall the robot or run the dock's automatic emptying procedure. Press two of the buttons to switch on the child lock which is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
The Omni Omni, like other robotic hoovers vacuums, utilizes its camera to identify obstacles and furniture in its path. It will steer clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
The X1 can be prone to become stuck when it gets entangled in a hazard like a power cable tangled over a rug. It will not work until you manually untangle it. This was a rare occurrence however it was frustrating because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert on its app.
Another possible issue is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during the cleaning process. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad, except that the mopping pad isn't cleaned or dried between use. This could lead to mildew and mold.
On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It's a huge departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for the market that is dominated by boxy models.
