Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst at Good Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.
He evaluates and tests cleaning appliances. His focus is on mopping and robot vacuum combinations. These multitaskers are an excellent option for those who wish to cross mopping off the to-do list. They are equipped with impressive mapping capabilities and obstacles-avoiding capabilities, and some even wash and refill their mopping pads for a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model to select if you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It's smaller than the other options and makes it easier to maneuver into tight spaces or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it some of the best automatic vacuum cleaner navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It has a 4600mAh battery that can last up to 170 minutes if cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It will even return to its dock to replenish its battery mid-clean.
It's extremely efficient and does an outstanding job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It vacuums the carpeted rooms extremely quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallways, and living room in a single pass. The suction motor's 8,000pa will quickly pick up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the two side brushes help draw out dirt from corners.
The mopping performance is a little less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a bit more than other robots. This is useful in difficult corners or along baseboards. Those same front arms can be employed to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys or books.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tried. It is quieter and doesn't make as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it must use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It's simple to install and performs well however this is something you'll have to be aware of if you're buying this robot vacuum solely for the purpose of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other best robot vacuum vacuums in its class. It is a powerful cleaner with a wide range of features.
The device is equipped with an extremely powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the house and detect furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and efficiently. This ensures an even and thorough clean, while also being relatively rapid.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can be used to reach a wide range of surface areas. This includes corners and baseboards as well as other hard-to-reach areas. They also come with a stretchy side brush that can be extended to reach the floor near walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are also washable and can be dried to remove odors and prevent buildup.
Another noteworthy feature is the app-based customization options. The Q Revo lets you adjust the suction level and select an back-and-forth or random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes, which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can also turn off the side brush in order to prevent damage to carpets and rugs.
The device is costly, but has many smart features. It is important to keep in mind that the device is subject to periodic costs in the form of mopping supplies as well as regular maintenance. For instance brushrolls need to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours, and mop pads should be changed every one to three month.
This robot vacuum that mops has a high rating on Amazon and comes with a wide array of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also comes with a power button which doubles as a 'Clean button' and a Home button to send it back home after cleaning robot mop and vacuum. It also has a multi-functional dock that automatically empty the dustbin and refills its water tank for mopping and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or someone who wants an organized home that doesn't require a lot of time on chores The Shark Matrix Plus is a solid choice. It has powerful performance, intelligent navigation, and a long battery life that makes it easy to keep your home clean with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop that is, it can do mopping and vacuuming. The robot is divided into two modules, a dry bin and water tank that can be snapped in and out and a mopping module which has microfiber pads. Separate modules for vacuuming and mopping may seem a bit old-fashioned however, they mean you don't have to worry about changing disposable bags or refueling the tank with water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature was its precise floorplan map that it uses to create a route when cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture carpets, rugs and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' as well as virtual barriers to stop certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.
We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in picking up hair from pets. It was able to collect the majority of hair that our cats shed, and even was able to get into the nooks and crannys of our stairs which other robots struggled. The noise levels were low and there were lovely jingles that let you know that it was starting and working towards its goal.
The app was too basic and you had to change the modules each time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app is not able to keep multiple maps. This can be an issue if your house has multiple floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for an intelligent robot that can perform both mopping and vacuuming.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our test, but it comes with some distinctive features that are worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its massive dock that doubles as an charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dust bin and a 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.
The base also has a variety of control buttons that allow you to manually start a cleaning job, recall the robot, or run the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two of the buttons to switch on a child lock which is a great feature for parents who are worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
The X1 can be prone to become stuck if it is entangled in a hazard like a power cable tangled over a rug. It will not work until you remove it manually. This was a rare incident however, it was a bit frustrating because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert on its app.
Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but the mopping pad isn't cleaned or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.
On the bright side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a significant contrast to the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing appearance in a market that is dominated by bulky boxy models.
