Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He reviews and tests cleaning appliances, focusing on mopping and robot vacuum combos. These multitaskers can be ideal for those who want to eliminate mopping from their to-do lists. Some models have superior mapping and obstacles avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you should pick if you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It's smaller than other options on this list which makes it easier to maneuver in tight corners and under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar that, combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it one of my top navigation and object avoidance capabilities I've seen in a robotic vacuum. It has a 4600mAh battery that can last up to 170 mins when mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery mid-clean.
It's efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen, and hallways with just one sweep. Its motor of 8,000pa is able to pick up dirt, pet hair, and poop easily. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects rugs and the double side brushes help to clean debris from corners.
The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, isn't as good. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can be used to clean up larger debris, like broken toys and books.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tried. It is quieter and doesn't make more noise when mopping or vacuuming. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a exclusive cleaning solution for mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's simple to install and is effective, but this is something you'll need to keep an eye on when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums uk vacuums that mops in its class. It has a robust suite of features that make it a great choice for homeowners looking to purchase an extremely efficient, flexible and ad-hoc cleaning machine.
The device has a powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the home and detect furniture and other obstacles. It can then use this information to clean methodically and effectively. This leads to an effective, consistent cleaning robot mop and vacuum which is also relatively fast.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad is capable of reaching many surfaces. They can reach corners and baseboards as well as other hard-to-reach spots. They also have a stretchy side brush that can extend to the floor in close proximity to walls and other fixtures. In addition the mop pads can be washed and dried to avoid build-up and lessen odors.
Another notable feature is the customizable options available via apps. The Q Revo lets you adjust the strength of suction and select between a back-andforth, or a more randomized pattern. You can also alter the number of passes it should make, which will determine how fast the device will move through your home. You can even choose to disable the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.
The device has a high price tag but comes with a large selection of smart features. It is important to remember, however, that the device incurs periodic costs in the form of mopping supplies as well as regular maintenance. For instance the brushroll should be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad must be replaced every three to six months.
This robot vacuum that mops has an excellent rating on Amazon and comes with a wide array of physical automation features. These include an energy button that doubles as a general 'Clean button, as well as a 'Home' button that will send it back to its base station once it has completed its cleaning session. It also has a multifunctional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin and refills its water tank to mop and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be the ideal option for busy professionals or anyone looking to keep their home tidy without spending too much time on chores. It's a top-performing device, smart navigation, and a long battery life that allows you to keep your home tidy with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop which means it is able to handle both vacuuming and mopping. The robot comes with two modules: a dry bin and reservoir of water, and a separate mopping system with microfiber pads that snap into and out of the way. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming may seem a bit old-fashioned, but they do mean you don't have to worry about changing disposable bags or refueling the water tank.
The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming and mopping. Its best feature was its precise floorplan map that it uses to create the path to follow when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate easily through rugs, furniture and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' or virtual barriers that prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a amazing job of collecting pet hair. It was able to capture many of the hair shed by our cats, and even got into the corners and crevices of our stairs, where other robots had struggled. Its noise levels were fairly low, and there were some lovely jingles that signal that it was starting and working towards its goal.
Its biggest drawbacks were its simplistic app and the need to swap between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app isn't able to hold multiple maps, which could be a pain if you have a home that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a ideal choice for people who want a device that can vacuum and mop.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. It does however, have some unique features which make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni is most notable for its enormous dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses a 2.5-liter dustbin and the 2.5 liter dust bin.
The base has several control buttons that allow you to manually start cleaning tasks, recall the robot or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle the child lock, which is a nice feature for parents who are worried about children playing with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with an obstruction, such as an electrical cord dangling across a rug--that it becomes stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. While it was not common but it was a very frustrating experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni does not come with an "stuck" status alert on its application.
Another potential downside is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during the cleaning process. You will need to manually switch between the two, which isn't an issue except for the fact that the mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between use, which can lead to mildew or mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed the sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a significant contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxy models.
