Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item upgrades level by 3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the item upgrades being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item upgrader kit at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item Level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another significant modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them wisely. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
