The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we tested. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.

The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.
