Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He reviews and tests cleaning equipment, focusing on mopping and robot vacuum combos. These multitaskers are an excellent choice for those who want to take mopping off their to-do list. Some models have superior mapping and obstacles avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you need to select if you're looking for an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It's smaller than the other options, making it more maneuverable in tight corners or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers one of my top navigation and object avoidance features I've seen in the form of a robotic vacuum. It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes, if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo). It will even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.
It's extremely quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It cleans the carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallways, and living room in a single sweep. Its 8,000pa suction motor will quickly pick up dirt, crumbs, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects carpets and the double side brush helps to remove debris from corners.
The mopping performance is less impressive, though not by much. The mop rotates at a high speed and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a bit more than other robots. This is useful in tight corners or on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger debris like books and broken toys.
Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuum cleaner vacuums and mops I've ever used. It is quieter and doesn't make more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for its mopping function and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's simple to set up and is effective however it's something you'll have to keep an eye on in case you're purchasing this vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It comes with a wide array of features that make it a great choice for homeowners looking to purchase an efficient, flexible and adaptable cleaning machine.
The device comes with a powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This allows it to map out your home and detect furniture and other obstacles. It can then use this information to clean methodically and intelligently. This will ensure a thorough and consistent clean and is also quick.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can reach an array of surface areas. They can reach corners or baseboards, as well as other difficult-to-access spots. The side brush can be stretched to extend to the floor, close to the walls and other fixtures. The mop pads can also be washable and dry to remove odors and prevent buildup.
App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo allows you to alter the strength of suction, and choose between a back-andforth or more random patterns. You can also alter the number of passes it should make, which will determine how fast the device will traverse your home. You can also disable the side brush to protect your carpets from damage. carpets.
This device has a fairly high price tag but comes with a large selection of smart features. It is important to keep in mind, however, that the device is subject to recurring expenses in the form mopping supplies as well as regular maintenance. For instance brushrolls need to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad should be replaced every one to three months.
This robot vacuum mop has an excellent Amazon rating and comes with a wide range of physical automation features. These include a power button that serves as a general "Clean button as well as a Home button that will take it back to its base station once it has completed its cleaning task. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically empties the dustbin, refills its water tank for mopping and washes and dries its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be an ideal choice for busy professionals or anyone who wants to keep their home tidy without spending too much time doing chores. Its powerful performance, smart navigation, and long battery life allow you to maintain a clean house with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus robot best automatic vacuum and mop is a two-in-one mop and vacuum. It is capable of mopping and vacuuming. The robot has two modules: a dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping system with microfiber pads that snap into and out of position. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for mopping and vacuuming but it does mean you don't need to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.
Our testers discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it uses when cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture carpets, rugs and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option of setting "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers, which can help to keep certain areas of your home from being scrubbed with a mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at picking up hair from pets. It was able to collect many of the hair shed by our cats, and even got into some of the corners and crevices of our stairs, where other robots have struggled. Its noise levels were fairly low and there were nice jingles to inform you that it was starting and working towards its goal.
The biggest flaws were its simplistic app and the necessity to change between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app is not able to keep multiple maps. This could be a problem if your home has multiple floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a ideal choice for people who are looking for a smart device that can vacuum and mop.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that can be found in our test, but it has some distinct features that are worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni is most notable for its massive dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dust bin and the 2.5 milliliter dust bin.
The base comes with several control buttons, which allow you to manually start a cleaning task or recall the robot, or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two of the buttons to turn off a child lock, which is a nice feature for parents who are worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.
Like other best robotic mop and vacuum vacuums the Omni Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more accurate in finding objects.
Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally get caught up in an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you manually free it. While it was not common but it was a very frustrating experience when it happened and especially because the X1 Omni does not come with an "stuck" status alert in its application.
Another potential downside is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between use. This could lead to mildew and mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a significant change from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing appearance in a market that is dominated by clunky boxy models.
