He evaluates and tests cleaning appliances. His main focus is robot vacuums, and mopping combinations. Multitaskers are ideal for those who want to remove mopping from their list of things to do. Some models have superior mapping capabilities and obstacle avoidance. Some wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking for a robot Vacuums that mop vacuum that also mops then this is the model to look for. It's smaller than the other models and makes it easier to maneuver into tight spaces or under furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it the best navigation and obstacle avoidance I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It has a hefty 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can run longer in turbo). It will even return to the dock to replenish its battery halfway through cleaning.
It's efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums the carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallways, and living room in a single sweep. The suction motor's 8,000pa will quickly pick up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help to tease out dirt from corners.
The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, isn't as effective. The rotating mop spins at a high speed and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scrubbing up dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm extends out a bit more than other robots. This is helpful in difficult corners or along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger objects such as books and toys that have been damaged.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've used. It is quieter and doesn't make as much noise when mopping or vacuuming. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It's easy to install and works well however, this is something you'll need to keep an eye on when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of it mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it a great option for homeowners looking for a highly effective, versatile and ad-hoc cleaning machine.
The device comes with an extremely powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the house and locate furniture and other obstacles. It can then use this information to clean effectively and intelligently. This will result in an efficient, consistent clean that is also quite fast.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads are capable of reaching many different surface areas. These include corners, baseboards, and other difficult-to-access spots. They also come with a stretchy side brush that can be extended to the floor in close proximity to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are also washable and dry to remove odors and prevent buildup.
App-based customization is a different interesting feature. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the strength of suction and select between a back-and-forth or slightly more random patterns. You can also set the number of passes it will make, which will determine the speed at which the device can move through your home. You can also disable the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rug.
The device has a expensive price, but is packed with a wide array of smart features. It is important to note that the device will incur periodic costs in the form of mopping supplies and regular maintenance. For example brushrolls need to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pads must be changed every one to three months.
This robot vacuum mop has an excellent Amazon rating and comes with a wide range of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also comes with an energy button that doubles as a 'Clean' button' and a 'Home button that allows it to go back home after cleaning. It also comes with a multifunctional dock which automatically empty the trash bin, fills up its water tank and washes and drys its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or just want a cleaner home without spending hours doing chores, the Shark Matrix Plus is a good choice. Its powerful performance, intelligent navigation, and long battery life make it simple to keep a clean home with little effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuums with mop vacuum is a two-in-one vacuum and mop. It is capable of vacuuming as well as mopping. The robot is divided into two modules which include a dry bin and water tank that can be easily snapped in and out and a mopping module that is equipped with a microfiber pad. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming might seem a bit outdated, but they do mean that you don't need to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank with water.
Our testers discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it uses when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers that prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a surprising job of picking up pet hair. It was able capture a large amount of hair shed by our cats and even was able to get into the nooks and crannies of our stairs which other robots struggled. Its noise levels were fairly low and there were pleasant jingles to let you know that it was beginning and getting its work done.
The app was too simple and you had to change the modules every time you switched between vacuuming and mops. The app cannot store multiple maps. This could be a problem if your home has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for a smart robot that can do both vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. However, it does have certain unique features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its enormous dock which doubles as a charging base as well as housing for two water tanks, a sink for cleaning and an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.
The base also has a variety of buttons to control the system. These allow you to manually start a cleaning job or recall the robot vacuum best or run the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to switch on a child lock which is a great touch for parents worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.
Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more accurate in recognising objects.
This can cause the X1 to become stuck when it gets entangled in a blockage, such as the power cable that is draped over a rug. It won't work until you manually untangle it. Although this is not a common occurrence, it was a frustrating experience when it happened and especially because the X1 Omni does not come with an "stuck" status alert in its app.
Another potential downside is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't an issue aside from the fact that the mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between use and can cause mildew or mold.
On the bright side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a significant contrast to the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome sight in a space which is dominated by clunky boxy models.
