Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He tests and evaluates cleaning appliances. His main focus is robot vacuums, and mopping combinations. These multitaskers are an excellent choice for those who want to get mopping off their to-do list. Some models have superior mapping capabilities and obstacle avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads for a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking for a robot vacuum that also mops then this is the model you should go for. It's smaller than the other options on this list which makes it easier to maneuver through tight corners and under furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best navigation and obstacle avoidance I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It has a hefty 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes, if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can run longer in turbo). It will even return to its dock to recharge its battery mid-clean.
It's extremely quick and does a great job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one sweep. Its 8,000pa suction motor will quickly pick up sand, dirt, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects rugs, and the dual side brush assists in removing debris from corners.
The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as good. The rotating mop spins at a high velocity and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arms stick out slightly more than other robots, which is useful to maneuver around tight corners and along baseboards. The front arms can also be used to collect larger pieces of debris, such as books and toys that have been damaged.
Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever tried. It doesn't produce the same amount of noise when mopping or vacuuming and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It is easy to install and performs well. However, if you are buying this robot autonomous vacuum solely for mopping you must pay attention to this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It has a robust suite of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners looking to purchase an extremely efficient, flexible and ad-hoc cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map your home and detect furniture and other obstacles. It can then use this information to clean methodically and efficiently. This will result in an efficient, consistent clean that is also quite fast.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can reach a wide range of surface areas. This includes corners or baseboards, as well as other hard-to-reach areas. The side brush can be stretched out to reach the floor close to walls and other fixtures. In addition the mop pads are able to be dried and washed to prevent build-up and reduce the odors.
App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo allows you to alter the intensity of its suction and choose between a back-andforth or more randomized pattern. You can also select the number of passes which will determine how quickly it can move around your home. You can also decide to turn off the side brush to prevent damaging carpets and rugs.
The device has a expensive price, but comes with a large selection of advanced features. It's important to remember that it carries regular expenses in the form of mopping supplies and maintenance. For instance the brushroll should be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hrs, and the mop pads must be changed every three month.
This robot vacuum that mops has an excellent rating on Amazon and comes with a wide range of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also comes with an power button that doubles as a 'Clean' button' and a Home button that allows it to go home after cleaning. It also has a multi-functional dock that automatically empty the dustbin, refills its water tank for mopping and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who just wants an organized home that doesn't require a lot of time on chores then the Shark Matrix Plus is a good choice. It's a top-performing device, intelligent navigation, and long battery life that allows you to keep your home tidy with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is a two-in-one mop and vacuum. It is capable of mopping and vacuuming. The robot comes with two modules: a dry bin and water reservoir, and a separate mopping module with a microfiber pad that snaps in and out of place. Separate modules for vacuuming and mopping may appear a bit dated however, they mean that you don't need to worry about changing bags for disposables or refilling the tank with water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it utilizes when cleaning. This made it easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture rug, furniture and other obstacles. The app also offers the option of setting "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers that help to keep certain areas of your house from being scrubbed with mop.
We also discovered that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up hair from pets. It was able capture some of the hair that our cats shed, and even made it into the corners and crevices of our stairs, where other robots had struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low and there were pleasant jingles to signal that it was beginning and finishing its work.
The app was too simple and you had to switch the modules every time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app isn't able to store multiple maps, which could be a pain if you have a home with multiple floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a excellent choice for those who want a smart device that can vacuum and mop.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our test, but it has some distinct features that are worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni is most well-known for its massive dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two water tanks that are 4 liters in size. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dustbin and a 2.5 liter dust bin.
The base also comes with a set of buttons to control the system. These allow you to manually start a cleaning job and then recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.
The Omni Omni like other robotic cleaner and mop vacuums uses its camera to identify obstacles and furniture in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally become so entangled with obstacles, like a power cord draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. Although this is not a common occurrence however, it was a gruelling experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni does not have a "stuck" status alert on its application.
The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad, except that the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can lead to mildew and mold.
On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern, sleek base and mopping pad. It's a significant departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and is a refreshing view in a market that is dominated by bulky boxy models.
