Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one session and without the need to switch devices. They can also reduce space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot must have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads using an appropriate dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.
For example, you can choose to have the robot clean up the kitchen and living rooms but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models cannot. The only problem is that the robot tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning in the app will reveal exactly what the robot accomplished, where it's traveling, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.
The docking station features an LCD display that shows the need for maintenance like emptying the debris and rinsing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend, though we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most recent version. Unlike last year's model, this one features a double agitator in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to remove fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could be unable to pick up.
As with the two other Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which helps it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're a wall or another surface. It can then change its course in a way that is automatic and clean around them, without missing a step.
It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it has just three physical buttons: the power button, that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties, and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount itself to wash manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the Best robot vacuum cleaner UK crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number intelligent features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app lets you manage and set up these smart features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering how well it performs otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with its innovative features, top suction power and cutting-edge mowing abilities. Its clever design permits customized and efficient cleaning while saving you time.
The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the most effective options available. This powerful vacuum removes dry debris, including pet hair and crumbs. It also has a high-quality mop that leaves hard floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad. In addition, the X40 is extremely quiet during operation, only producing occasional bursts of noise when switching modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.
The X40 also comes with a side brush that can be lifted and extended. This lets it reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean furniture that is curved like chairs and table legs. It also allows the robot to access furniture with a low profile making it an ideal option for apartments or condos with limited space. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a wonderful feature that allows the X40 to prevent damage to floors from the frequent back-and-forth movement.
Unlike some other robots that solely focus on one task, the X40 can perform mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or individually. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and skip carpeted areas or vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.
The app is easy to use and understand The X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are simple to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, switch modes, view maps and floor plans, and manage mopping setting. The X40 can also monitor its progress and notify you when it's done.
The X40 is easy to maintain and has many features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station will automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads and refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you before it overflows, reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot hoover and mop is one of the most expensive models available. It does have several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and has an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also vacuum up pet hair, dirt particles and remove spills and soiled spots.
The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a good way of keeping your home clean for longer.
There's an impressive amount of options available, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app or buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers many options for customizing the cleaning process, and there are numerous functions that other robots don't include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, rather than using an individual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on the market, sporting metallic and white design that is elegant and stylish. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and it feels sturdy and well-built. Mopping is well designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
