Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He conducts tests and reviews of cleaning equipment. His main focus is mopping robots and vacuum combinations. Multitaskers are a great option for those who wish to cross mopping off the to-do list. Some models have superior mapping capabilities and obstacles avoidance. Some wash and refill mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking to buy a robot vacuum that also mops then this is the model you should go for. It's smaller than the other options on this list making it easier to maneuver in tight corners and under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar which, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it one of my top navigation and object avoidance features I've seen in a robotic vacuum. It's powered by a 4600mAh battery which can last up to 170 mins when mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can run longer when it is set to turbo). It can even return to its dock to replenish its battery during the cleaning.
It's extremely quick and does a great job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one sweep. Its 8,000pa motor is able to pick up dirt, pet hair, and even droppings easily. Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects rugs, and the dual side brush helps to remove debris from corners.
The mopping performance is a little less impressive, but not by a lot. The mop rotates quickly and uses 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which is useful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger objects like books and broken toys.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't produce more noise when mopping or vacuuming. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a exclusive cleaning solution for mopping and is separate from the vacuum. It's simple to set up and works well however this is something you'll have to keep an eye on if you're buying this robot vacuum for the sole reason of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It is a powerful cleaner with a range of features.
The device has an extremely powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map your home and detect furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and effectively. This will ensure a thorough and consistent clean and is also quick.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad is capable of reaching many surfaces. This includes baseboards, corners and other hard to reach areas. The side brush can be stretched out to extend to the floor, close to the walls and other fixtures. Additionally, the mop pads can be washed and dried to avoid build-up and lessen the smell.
App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the suction strength and select either a back-and-forth or a random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes, which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can also decide to turn off the side brush to avoid damaging rugs and carpets.
The device is costly, however it has many useful features. It is important to keep in mind, however, that the device will incur periodic costs in the form of mopping equipment and regular maintenance. For example, a brushroll needs to be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours, and mop pads should be changed every one to three months.
This robotic vacuum cleaner has an excellent Amazon rating and includes many physical automation features. The vacuum also has a power button which doubles as the 'Clean button' and a 'Home button that allows it to go home after cleaning. It also has a multifunctional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin and refills its water tank to mop and washes and dries its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be the ideal option for busy professionals or anyone looking to keep their home tidy without spending too much time doing chores. Its powerful performance, intelligent navigation, and long battery life make it easy to maintain a clean home with little effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is a two-in-one vacuum and mop. It is capable of vacuuming as well as mopping. The robot cleaner with mop comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir, and a separate mopping module with microfiber pads that snap into and out of position. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming might seem a bit outdated, but they do mean you don't have to worry about changing bags for disposables or refilling the water tank.
Our test participants found that the Matrix Plus did a great job at both vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature was its precise map of your floorplan, which it uses to create the path to follow when cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs, and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers that prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mop.
We also found that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in removing hair from pets. It was able to collect the majority of hair our cats shed, and even found its way into the nooks and crannies of our stairs which other robots struggled. It was silent and also had a few nice jingles that let you know when it was about to start or finishing its work.
The app was too easy and you had to change the modules each time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't contain multiple maps, which could be a problem when you live in a house that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus robot vacuum cleaners reviews is a ideal choice for people who want a smart device that can mop and vacuum.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robotic vacuum that is able to mop in our review, but it comes with some distinct features that are worth a look. The X1 Omni is notable for its massive dock that doubles as an charging base for the robot vacuums best, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses a 2.5-liter dust bin as well as a 2.5 milliliter dust bin.
The base comes with a couple of buttons for control that allow you to manually start cleaning tasks, recall the best robot vacuum that mops or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents worried about their kids messing around with the vacuum.
The X1 Omni, like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path. It will steer clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
This can cause the X1 to become stuck if it is entangled in a hazard like a power cable tangled over a rug. It won't work until you untangle it manually. This is a rare event however, it was a bit frustrating because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert in its application.
Another possible issue is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during the cleaning process. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad however, mopping pads don't get washed or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.
On the bright side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a significant departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. And it's a welcome sight for an industry dominated by boxes.
